The Degree Show is sadly over, but at least that means I can finally share this! Enjoy.

Pastures new…

I’ve been making a few small changes to the layout of the blog, due to my status as a nearly-ex-Master’s student.
Recent news: Grades have been awarded, and I managed to blag a Distinction, which I’m thrilled with. The Degree show is underway and will be until Saturday at 4p.m. I’m witholding the final film until then, in an attempt to shunt people away from Vimeo and in the general direction of the art college, where my peers’ fantastic films are also playing.
In terms of the blog, it’s going to become a general record of my work. I know some of my peers viewed the blog as an annoying neccesity but I’ve really enjoyed blogging, in fact I’ve come to find it quite addictive so I’m keeping it up. Plus, I have a poor memory for some things so it serves as a useful reminder every time I think, “Now what was that technique I learned last week again?”
MSc blogs are now “Blogs of Friends,” and I’ve added a couple more to the list:
Sarah Dargie: http://love-in-the-time-of-metropolis.blogspot.co.uk/
Pat Imrie: http://patimrie.blogspot.co.uk/
So what’s next? First: making a showreel. Second: applying for jobs. VFX studios the world over can expect a barrage of CVs flying their way.
Chromatin Library

This bizarre-looking structure is my “chromatin library” that I’ll be using to construct the interior scenes. These scenes depend on thousands of instanced proxies, so I thought that instead of creating each scene from scratch, I would create an inventory of chromatin to choose from. These ones are bent at various angles ranging from 0 to 6 degrees.
